Data Centers: The Data

AFCOM, an association for data center professionals, recently surveyed 178 employees at companies with less than 5,000 staff to grasp the burning issues in today's data centers. Here are some of the findings.

TROUBLE SPOTS: 77% reported unexpected business disruption in their data, and 35% assessed the impact as serious.

BIG HOLES: 62% currently have unfilled data center positions.

BIG PLANS: 66% say they expect their data center operations to expand.

BLACKOUTS: 35% of outages could be traced to power failures at local utility companies; 22% were caused by internal power failures; and 10% by natural disasters.
